Poetry

In Future years so they say
We'll have the time to while away
To live in splendour and be gay
The happy sort not the (other way)
How can this be when everyday
Your time is ruled by bills to pay
The constant rush and endless hurry
All added to the constant worry
Gone are the days when time was yours
Now we are ruled by Hi-tech stores
The special offers, loans galore
All seen with camera's at the door
But times will change, just wait and see
When theirs no natural things about
No native trees, or birds or bats
Just pack after pack of feral cats
The stinking brook, and stanching stream
All lost to-day in a hazy steam
Caused by pollution and decay
Surely there must be another way

Am I dreaming
Is it real
I should know
By the way I feel
Is that me down there
Or me up here
Something's wrong
It's so unclear
This must be real
The voice and faces
For the hands I feel
In soothing places
The feelings gone now
and the pictures clear
It's great to have
A loved one near
Forget the dreaming
Forget the real
Just think about
The way you feel.

We save a specific species because of the latest Fashion
And condemn another because it's the current passion
Don't try to manage Wildlife it can manage very well
Conservations just another word that Humans learn to spell
If man would only step aside and look for just awhile
You would see what Wildlife's all about, and this would make you smile
Evolution did so very well until man came on the scene
All the College education it isn't worth a Bean
If by saving a single species the Natural balance you do alter
For just a short-term improvement, the Wildlife it will falter
Please all you clever people just look for what is best
After all these many years I think Wildlife's passed the test
Just try to conserve by all means but don't try to say what's better
I hope I haven't caused offence with the contents of this letter

Woman's Master Plan
Human Nature
Are you trying to tell me something
By the way you stroke your hair
Do your eyes say how your feeling
And should I even dare
To say the signals I'm receiving
When you direct your thighs at me
I hope they're not misleading
And these signals are for free
A woman has it all ways
She knows just what to do
For man to find out how to play
He hasn't got a clue
For man to act so Macho
Is really really sad
For a woman's got the Ammo
That will finish every Lad
If it's you she's really after
Just take it like a man
It's just another Chapter
Of Woman's Master Plan

When rivers are allowed to fill with sand
Then floodwater will invade the land
When land is flooded as it will be
It might as well be called the sea

I've bombed you
you’ve bombed me
But still we seek revenge
When we've bombed
each one to bit's
There will be no need
for friends

Like the constant motion of the sea
My waves of love for you roll free
Like the rain that wets the Bone-Dry ground
My appetites wetted when your around
The Sun that shines on the hottest day
Is the heat I feel when you walk my way
The flowers in the spring all fresh and new
Is the way I feel when I walk with you
The dying leaves of Autumn have seen their better days
But the passing years where counting are the things that make us stay
Most people are still searching for something they can't explain
While we are just enjoying the things that are so plain
Maybe in the near future or maybe not at all
We will get fed up with the contentment
And just say stuff em all

Sheila
Grafted close together as if our skin is one
Growing strong forever that makes us really strong
They say it's a no go party and in time we will go down
But were still hale and hearty their the ones that look the clowns
We dismissed the Dire warnings for the love we share is true
It leads to bouts of yawning and the years gone by just flew
Just look how we are enjoying things we never missed
The life we are exploring now feels so heaven blessed
Into a tighter circle or perhaps a stronger square
As long as we are together true love is always there

Mother
Forty times two seventy add ten
What can we do
Go watch a show get some new gear
Clothes are a bore, and so is the beer
What you have not seen doesn't interest you
What you do see irritates you
To be treated like a five year old
With no mind of your own
To seem to have no control over your life
We hope its not that bad
Remember we worry about you
Just keep being you and we will treat you
Like an ordinary person
And not like the extraordinary person
Who is Eighty today

The water vole's so weakly
You mustn't trespass on it's land
All it eats is vegetation
It's diet is so bland
Most of its life is spent in damp holes
Just trembling in fear
What it adds to the eco system
Is frankly quite unclear
But the Powers That Be just tell us
To protect this little beast
And it can't be allowed to become Extinct
Because of Humans destruction feast
So if you see this little fellow
Take a note of where he's at
And report it to the Powers That Be
Were they will record it on their Map

If you're born and bred in Mawdesley
And you're still living in this place
You'll have seen a lot of changes
On the roads we used to pace
All the dwellings small and simple
There just a memory of the past
And the way of country living
Is being eroded fast
Now the fashion is to build a home
That's bigger than the rest
To try and find a small abode
Is quite an hopeless quest
Once the horse was used for ploughing
Now it's simply used for leisure
Trotting down the country lanes
Just seems the latest pleasure
Though the days of family farming
May be rooted in the past
And the few remaining families
Could be doing well to last
But you know with all these changes
Mawdesleys going to be alright
And for all of us who live here
The futures looking bright

The War in Southeast Asia
Its conclusion though still not clear
For the soldiers remaining out there
The cost could be so dear
For the families who are laughing
There are still so many sad
Because some have lost there children
And many lost there dad
To be born without a parent
Is a price to much to pay
But for many newborn babies
They just won't have a say
Even after all these years
Still the suffering goes on
But still there are wives and mothers
To war there men have gone
With the VE celebrations
Let's remember times gone bye
Forget the aggravations
And let's give peace a try.

Gone are the hot summer days
Wafting in the breeze
Gone are days we played
In the carefree months so free
They roughly plucked off all our heads
And threw us in a sack
And how they spun us in to threads
There's now no going back
Me I'm now a pair of smalls
My life is dark and dank
The state I'm in some times appals
And sometimes is quite rank
The only bit of light I see
It sometimes makes me frown
The only time the air flows free
Is when the zip is down
No more the cotton fields for me
There's only dust and fluster
The only future left for me
Maybe be a torn up duster.

Streetwise
You won’t see us cry
And we tell a good lie
Cos were streetwise
Yeh streetwise
We show no fear
And use boss gear
Cos were streetwise
Yeh streetwise
Don’t get in my face
Cos this is our place
Don’t tell us what’s what
For we call the shots
Cos were streetwise
Yeh streetwise
Designer tags are what matter
Always talk the best patter
Tattoos and pierced naval
Try to shock if were able
We expect a living
But there will be no giving
And were streetwise
Yeh streetwise
Spend on tick
And abuse the sick
Were mostly yobs
In well paid jobs
But were streetwise
Yeh were streetwise
We support the team
In the shirt were seen
If you’re not our town
Then we’ll knock you down
We get off our heads
Then we stay in bed
You can stuff your laws
Cos we’ve got no flaws
And were streetwise
Yeh streetwise
Cos were streetwise
